How to dress your kids for a wedding, with @m_i_s_s_g_s_t_y_l_e

Wedding season is almost upon us and quite frankly, we couldn’t be more excited. Not only do you get to see two people you care about embark upon the next chapter in their lives, the free food and bubbly is a major plus, too. But it’s not all just confetti, canapés and champagne. Even when it’s not your wedding, there’s always a certain amount of planning involved. What are you going to wear? What are you going to bring as a gift? And if it’s a destination wedding, where are you going to stay?

When you’re bringing your kids to the wedding, there’s an even longer list of logistical questions. However, the biggest one is definitely “What on earth do kids even wear to a wedding?” Chances are, your little ones’ wardrobe is filled with comfy onesies, t-shirts and dresses not formal attire that would be appropriate for a wedding. Luckily, dressing your pint-sized prince or princess for the special occasion doesn’t have to be a hassle. We’ve got you sorted with our ultimate guide to dressing the kids for a wedding.

For your little girl

If your gorgeous girl isn’t part of the bridal party, it’s a good idea to avoid dressing her in head-to-toe white. However, white accessories are fine! To make her look and feel like a pretty princess, why not pair our Larissa Dress in Pink with the stunning Lola Crystal Crown? Don’t forget to add the Thalula Long Sleeve Fur Shrug to keep her cosy when it cools down in the afternoon!

For your little boy

Baby boys can be particularly tough to dress for weddings, especially when they haven’t yet graduated from onesies. Our collared Alex Bicycle one piece is the perfect solution to that dilemma! Pair it with the Ben Tailored Jacket and Pants in navy for a super dapper look.

For the flower girl

So, your little angel has been given the very important job of flower girl down the wedding? Make sure she looks the part by dressing in her in a gorgeous white dress, like our Angelique Butterfly Dress. Top the look off with the adorable ivory Bethany Headband and you’re sure to hear a chorus of “awwww” as she walks down the aisle.

For the ring bearer

It’s customary for the ring bearer to wear a collared shirt, white or navy jacket and white shorts. We love the combination of the Alex Bicycle Shirt in Blue with the Ben Tailored Jacket in Ivory and Sam Shorts. Add the Bradley Boys suspenders and a Charlie Bow Tie for the perfect finishing touch!

For tweens

Most tweens will already have their own distinctive style, so should have some idea of what they’d feel most comfortable in. However, our classy Miranda High Neck Dress in Navy is a great choice for girls, as it appeals to a wide range of styles and is suitable for any formal occasion. In terms of footwear, opt for dressy sandals or short heels. As for tween boys, you can’t go wrong with a simple, white collared shirt like the Oliver Shirt, a pair of smart trousers like the Sam Pants in Black and dress shoes.
